Registration Information

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Member of IMPSA. Please take your time to read this article before registering with IMPSA as this would ensure that you complete the form correctly as well as answering any questions you may have.

Categories of Membership

New applications are admitted as Members.
Practitioners
A Member who is in possession of a NQF-Level 6 tertiary qualification may apply to be upgraded to Practitioner member if they have gained extensive experience in HR practice of at least 5 years in Local Government.  The administrative fee to be admitted as Practitioner is a once-off R250 and a full Curriculum Vitae has to be submitted to the National Secretary for submission to the Institute Board.
Fellow
A class of membership of the Institute of which a person may be elected by   the Institute Board in terms of clause 2.4 of the Regulations of the Institute.
Honorary Member
A class of membership of the Institute to which a person may be elected by the Institute Board in terms of clause 2.7 of the Regulations of the Institute.

Period of Membership

The period of Membership runs from 1 March to the end of February every year. Reminders to renew Membership are sent out during November by the National Treasurer and members who haven’t paid by end of March would be deleted from the membership list and have to apply for membership again.

Cost of Membership

Membership fees of R300 are payable in March every year. In the event of joining IMPSA later in the year, new members are required to pay the Pro Rata Amount as set out in the form below:

Benefits of Membership

Becoming a member of IMPSA has several benefits for Individuals, the most important being the opportunity to network with other HR Practitioners at municipalities.

Other benefits include:

  • Forums to discuss matters of mutual interest;
  • Attendance of Workshops and Annual International Conference at a discounted rate;
  • Voting rights at Branch and Annual AGM.

Having read this form, please follow the relevant application link (on the top under ‘Membership’) and complete the form, following the instructions under each category. Once you have completed the form, please ensure that you send through proof of payment (via the stated methods). Your membership application will only be processed and your Membership Certificate would be mailed to you as soon as payment has been confirmed.
